FAQ – Climbing Kilimanjaro

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a monumental challenge and a life-changing experience. To help you prepare, we\'ve compiled the most frequently asked questions from our climbers.
1. When is the best time to climb?
The best months to climb Kilimanjaro are from January to March and June to October. During these periods, the weather is generally dry and the visibility is excellent.
2. Which route should I choose?
The choice of route depends on your experience, fitness level, and how many days you want to spend on the mountain.
- Machame Route: Highly scenic, good for acclimatization (7 days).
- Lemosho Route: Quiet, high success rate, beautiful vistas (8 days).
- Marangu Route: The only route with hut accommodation (6 days).
3. How fit do I need to be?
You don\'t need to be an elite athlete, but a good level of cardiovascular fitness is essential. We recommend training at least 3-4 months before your trek, focusing on hiking, walking, and stair climbing.
4. What about altitude sickness?
Altitude sickness (AMS) is the primary reason people fail to reach the summit. Our guides are highly trained to monitor your oxygen levels and heart rate daily. The best way to prevent AMS is to "pole pole" (go slowly) and choose a longer itinerary for better acclimatization.
5. Do I need a visa for Tanzania?
Most visitors require a visa to enter Tanzania. You can apply for an e-visa online before your trip or obtain one upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).
