What to carry for Kilimanjaro climb

Packing correctly is crucial for a successful summit. You will need to pack for four different climatic zones, from tropical rainforest to arctic conditions.
Clothing
- Base Layers: Moisture-wicking (synthetic or merino wool).
- Insulation Layers: Fleece jackets or down sweaters.
- Outer Layers: Waterproof and breathable (Gore-Tex or similar).
- Hiking Pants: Lightweight and convertible.
- Heavy Down Jacket: For the summit night.
Footwear
- Hiking Boots: Waterproof, broken-in, with good ankle support.
- Camp Shoes: Sneakers or sandals for the evenings.
- Socks: Thick wool socks for hiking and liner socks for blister prevention.
Gear & Equipment
- Daypack: 25-35 liters for your daily essentials.
- Duffel Bag: 70-90 liters (carried by porters, max 15kg).
- Sleeping Bag: Rated to -15°C / 0°F.
- Trekking Poles: Highly recommended for descent.
- Headlamp: With extra batteries for summit night.
Personal Items
- Water Hydration: Bladder (3L) and a wide-mouth bottle.
- Sun Protection: Sunglasses, sunscreen (SPF 50+), and lip balm.
- Toiletries: Wet wipes, hand sanitizer, and a small towel.
